Surat Basin WTP & STPs

The Mine Camps’ Sewerage and Water Treatment Plants are essential components of the Surat Basin’s expansion, designed to support the growing Gas Industry. The sites involved in this project included Condabri, Reedy Creek, Woleebee, Jordan, and Ruby Jo Camps, which accommodate and support workers on the gas fields. As an experienced electrical water infrastructure services contractor, CE Group was responsible for delivering key electrical services that ensured the smooth operation of these vital facilities.

Hail Creek High Voltage Reticulation Upgrade

The Hail Creek High Voltage Reticulation Upgrade project was granted to CE Group based on the high quality work previously completed on the same site, and underpins the diversity of work CE Group can deliver.

This project included the supply and installation of 22,000 V cable and reticulation to replace existing above-ground infrastructure and reinstate it underground via a conduit and pit system. The new reticulation included the installation of two (2) new 2,000kVA Kiosk Transformer / RMU Units which included the civil works for the concrete slabs, trenching and pit excavation.

Kooralbyn WTP

CE Group was awarded this project and undertook it as the principal contractor for the Design and Construction works. At the core of the project was the requirement to upgrade the plant’s control systems from several stand-alone elements, of which some were manually operated, into a distributed automated PLC / SCADA solution.

Partnerships with suitably experienced companies enabled us to perform the process and hydraulic design consultancy, as well as the mechanical design, manufacture and the commissioning of such. As part of this work brief, CE Group successfully completed the removal of the old Aeration Tower, removal and replacement of the existing asbestos water main (including dosing injection points), addition of Caustic, Alum and Chlorine Gas chemical dosing systems, automatic DN150 Filters Backwash Valving and sequencing, all alongside the control system upgrade.

Beaudesert Water Treatment Plant

Engineering Applications engaged CE Group to supply and install a fixed stand to allow a mobile PAC (Powder Activated Carbon) trailer to be plugged in and run controlled through the plant’s existing SCADA network.

The trailer has been designed to move between sites when required and the site’s infrastructure was upgraded including the installation of new backbone cabling.

The development of the mobile trailers greatly improves asset usage throughout the existing sites, reducing capital expenditure across the network.

LWIA Switchroom Upgrade

CE Group, a renowned electrical water infrastructure contractor, collaborated closely with trusted partners, Engineering Applications and SCADA Engineering, to successfully execute both the civil and control elements of the project.

Capalaba WTP Sludge MCC Replacement

This project is for the design and construction of a new motor control centre (MCC) for the Sludge Treatment Plant at the Capalaba Water Treatment Plant. Along with the new MCC, a new switchroom demountable building was required to accommodate the new MCC and a complete upgrade of all cabling and accessories to the new client standards.

The outcome of this project was to provide our client the flexibility in designs for future expansion of the plant and sludge plant. This future expansion will be a vital necessity for the security of the South-East corners’ water supply.

Roles Hill Reservoir

Queensland Urban Utilities required the installation of three Flow Meters at Roles Hill Reservoir. This was essential so the reservoir could be taken offline for critical maintenance and roof repair work. CE Group, an experienced electrical water infrastructure services contractor, was engaged to handle this complex project.

APLNG Curtis Island Permanent Buildings

CE Group, an experienced electrical mining contractor, was contracted by Leighton Contractors to deliver electrical services for 10 permanent buildings at the Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG) project.

BMA Goonyella Horizontal Belt Filter Installation

Goonyella Riverside Coal Handling Preparation Plant upgrade involved the upgrade of three conveyor drives, motor control centre extension and installation of the 4th belt filter.

Goonyella Riverside Mine is a large open cut coking coal mine in the Bowen Basin. The coal is well known for its great coking characteristics. Much of the coal was such a high grade, the wash plants were often programmed to add ash to meet the contracted export quality targets.

GRM Coal Reclaimer and Stacker Upgrade

Goonyella Riverside Mine (GRM) is a coal mine located in the Bowen Basin approximately 30km north of Moranbah, and 190km southwest of Mackay. The Raw Coal Reclaimer and Raw Coal Stacker at Goonyella Riverside Mine is over 30 years old and much of both machines do not meet latest Standards, Codes and BMA specifications. In effort to rectify this and extend the machines’ operational life, the machines were to undergo an overhaul of electrical and mechanical infrastructure.

The project required significant works during the shutdown. The scope of work encompassed all E&I activities and Mechanical rectification on both machines, which included the following:

  • Replace existing switchrooms including temporary works to allow removal
  • Replace travel motors, remove existing travel brakes and replace isolators and cabling
  • Re-connect existing cables to new switchrooms
  • Provide modification to platforms and handrails to accommodate new switchrooms
  • Testing and quality assurance
  • Provide assistance for commissioning
