Project Details
CE Group, a leading electrical mining contractor, was engaged by Walz Group to carry out significant electrical works at Saraji Mine. This project involved an extension to the existing heavy vehicle workshop, which is essential for maintaining the heavy machinery used in the extraction of coal on-site. Saraji Mine, located in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, is a major producer of high-quality metallurgical coal, and maintaining the equipment is vital for the smooth operation of the mine.
The scope of work for CE Group included the installation of all electrical systems in four newly constructed workshop bays. These new bays were specifically designed to support the mine’s heavy vehicle fleet maintenance operations. Additionally, a new tank storage area for grease and oils used in the workshop was constructed, and CE Group ensured all necessary electrical infrastructure was installed to support the functionality of these storage systems.
Working within a live environment, the team faced several challenges related to the constraints of operating within an active mine site. Despite these complexities, CE Group successfully completed all aspects of the project within the timeframes and operational limits set by Saraji Mine. The ability to carry out electrical installations without disrupting ongoing mining activities demonstrated the team’s proficiency in handling time-sensitive projects.
Safety was a top priority throughout the project. CE Group’s commitment to maintaining a secure working environment was evident, as the project recorded no Lost Time Injuries (LTI), which earned praise from the mine operators. This achievement further underscores CE Group’s reputation as a reliable electrical mining contractor capable of delivering high-quality work while adhering to stringent safety protocols.
In summary, CE Group’s involvement in the Saraji Mine workshop extension project was marked by its timely execution and unwavering focus on safety. By working closely with Walz Group and the mine operators, CE Group helped ensure the workshop was fully equipped to meet the maintenance demands of the site’s heavy machinery. This project stands as another example of CE Group’s expertise and ability to meet the unique challenges of electrical mining infrastructure projects.
